Privacy Policy
We, the advocates of this firm, are governed by the Advocates Act, 1961 and the rules of the State Bar Council.
What we collect
The enquiry form on this site collects the name, telephone number, optional email address, selected practice area and the description of the matter that you choose to provide. If you apply through the careers page, the firm also receives your name, email address, telephone number and the CV you upload.
Analytics and cookies
This site uses Google Analytics to measure how pages are used. It is switched off until you allow it: on your first visit a banner asks, and unless you press Accept, Google is told not to store anything on your device. There is no advertising, no retargeting and no profiling of any visitor.
If you do allow it, Google Analytics sets cookies and Google receives the pages you viewed and your approximate location. Google is based in the United States. Analytics is never linked to an enquiry you send, or to any matter the firm handles for you.
You can change your mind at any time, here:
You have not answered yet on this browser, so analytics is switched off.
This choice is remembered in this browser only. On a different browser or device you will be asked again.
Why we hold it
Enquiries are recorded so the firm can respond to you and keep a record of the request if the client visited the office physically. They are visible only to the advocates and staff of Shree Ji Law Associates.
Sharing
Enquiry details are not sold, rented or shared with any marketing agency or third party. As legal service providers, we are bound by the position in law that where a matter is sub judice before the courts, only the court and the client have the right to disclose it to a third party.
Who else receives it
Everyone who touches personal data from this site is listed here, with what each actually receives and where they are. Some are outside India; the DPDP Act permits transfer to any country the Central Government has not restricted, and none has been. The firm’s responsibility for these companies does not pass to them.
- Supabase (United States) — The database behind this site and the staff portal. Your enquiry, and — if you apply through the careers page — your application and the CV you upload.
- Vercel (United States) — Hosting and content delivery. Requests to the site — the pages you open, your IP address and browser, kept in Vercel's request logs.
- Google (Gmail) (United States) — Carries the notification email that tells the firm your enquiry or application has arrived. The contents of that notification — your name, contact details and what you wrote.
- Google Analytics (United States) — Counts how pages are used — and only if you press Accept on the banner. The pages you viewed and your approximate location. Nothing if you decline, and it is never linked to an enquiry or a matter.
Retention
- Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement — Kept while they are useful to the firm's records. A defined period is being set — ask and yours will be deleted.
- Records of a matter the firm takes on — Kept in physical form. Matters before Indian courts are conducted mostly through physical filings, and electronically only where a court's e-Courts system accepts it.
- Job applications and uploaded CVs — Kept while the role is open and for a reasonable period after. A defined period is being set.
- Enquiry and appointment records deleted in the staff portal — Held in the portal's trash for 7 days so a mistake can be undone, then deleted for good by a daily job.
- Vercel request logs (these include your IP address) — Retained by Vercel on their plan's schedule.
Your rights under the DPDP Act
Write to the Grievance Officer below to exercise any of these. We will answer within 30 days. So that we do not hand your details to somebody else, please write from the email address or phone number the information is held under — we will ask you to confirm your identity before acting.
- Access — ask what personal data the firm holds about you, what it is used for, and who else has received it.
- Correction — have anything inaccurate, incomplete or out of date put right.
- Erasure — have it deleted, except where the firm’s professional or legal obligations require it to be kept.
- Withdraw consent — including analytics, which you can switch off yourself above.
- Nominate — name another person to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to. This right is specific to Indian law and has no equivalent under GDPR. Write to the Grievance Officer with your nominee’s details and it will be recorded.
- Complain — to the Grievance Officer first, and to the Data Protection Board of India if the firm does not resolve it.
Children
This site is not directed at anyone under 18, and the firm does not knowingly collect a child’s data. Nobody using this site is profiled or advertised to at any age, so the protections the Act gives children hold here because the site does none of those things to anyone. If you believe a child has sent their details through a form on this site, tell the Grievance Officer and it will be deleted.
Grievance Officer
The Act requires a named individual, not a general office address. Shree Ji Law Associates has appointed:
- Adv. Sumit Goswami — Founding Partner, Shree Ji Law Associates
- attorneygoswami3333@gmail.com
Put “Grievance” in the subject line. You will receive an acknowledgement and a substantive answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how it is handled, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
If something goes wrong
If a personal data breach occurs, the firm will notify the Data Protection Board and everyone affected as soon as it becomes aware, with a detailed report to the Board within 72 hours — telling you what happened, what data of yours was involved, what you can do to protect yourself, and how to reach us about it.
A caution
Please do not send confidential or privileged material through this website before an engagement has been confirmed in writing. See the disclaimer for more.
